Three Ways to Avoid Pests This Halloween
Halloween is a great time to decorate your home with cobwebs, bats, creepy-crawlers and more, but can be a problem when they aren’t just a fake decoration inside your home. Here are three ways to avoid pests this Halloween:
Pay Attention to Your Jack-O-Lantern
Carving pumpkins are a great way to get into the Halloween spirit! However, humans, ghouls, and goblins aren’t the only ones that love them. When you place your Jack-O-Lantern outside, it’s inevitable that insects and pests may use them as a source of food or a place to live. Be sure to pay attention to when your Jack-O-Lantern begins to rot so that you can dispose of it timely and properly.
Don’t Leave Your Frightfully Delicious Food Outside
While it’s okay to leave pre-wrapped candies out for trick-or-treaters, be sure to avoid leaving food outside if you decide to host a haunted Halloween party at your home. Keep food inside to avoid attracting pests outside, or bringing them inside your home.
Beware of Wooden Lawn Decorations
You may want to think twice before using any wooden Halloween decorations. Pests such as termites and carpenter ants see wood as their very own treat, and an infestation could potentially lead to infestation if brought into your home. Use plastic décor and lawn ornaments and double-check them before retiring your decorations for the season.
